Legend has it that in the 10th century , a horrible creature in the shape of a human or an animal appeared to Saint Dunstan , Archbishop of Canterbury . He asked the Archbishop, who worked as a blacksmith in a city in England, to fit him with a horseshoe. Saint Dunstan did not trust this strange creature, as he felt like he had the devil himself standing before him. For this reason, he placed the horseshoe on the creature in such a way that it would beg him to stop because of the pain.
As a result of this, the horseshoe became known as the element capable of warding off evil from whoever wore it, and given that at that time houses suffered many animal attacks due to their constant contact with forests, they began to place horseshoes so that they would scare them away if they were sent by the devil.
