The triquetra or triqueta , later also called triquel , is a symbol of Indo-European origin that alludes to the triple dimension. It also symbolizes life, death and rebirth ( life , death and reincarnation , for the Celts ). It has been found mainly on Celtic steles, Viking runes and Roman pots and vessels (believed to have been made by Celtic slaves). Throughout history, it has taken on many meanings, such as the triple dimension of equality , eternity and indivisibility . It also embodies Celtic philosophy , according to which everything has three levels: physical , mental and spiritual . It also touches on the three forces of infinite love : eternity , loyalty and truth .
